About Me

Artist Statement

I create art due to my ever-growing passion with the natural world that surrounds us. I look to investigate our relationship with the natural world, asking questions about how we can be more connected to nature and understanding it better. I like to use fantasy within the work to create a world for the audience to give them a new perspective on what nature could do and mean for us, as well as showing them how important and powerful it is. I also aim to encourage my audience to question their own relationship with nature, encouraging people to reflect on their day-to-day experience of nature and how they could adapt it. I find relational aesthetics has been a fascinating tool to aid this discovery and I will be experimenting with this further.

Throughout my practise I have been especially inspired by artists such as Rebecca Stevenson and Xiaojing Yan due to their delicate nature inspired sculptures. Ana Mendieta has also been an inspiration for me as she explores the relationship between the human body and nature.

I have researched into mycology and the work of Paul Stamets as well as Robert Sheldrake and his theories within nature, mother nature and religion.

My work is very process lead within sculpture, I find it vital to let the materials and their processes guide me and to influence the direction of the work visually. I enjoy exploring materials such as metals, wax, resin, and plaster, as well as incorporating elements of plant life. I find these materials to have an extensive list of opportunities for sculpture processes and formations.
